there's a lot more to life than just promos and your 4 subs. sure, singapore and its kinda screwed-up one-tracked mindset on academic excellence is a real pain in the ass, but that's just one restriction you gotta manoeuvre around. take A's for example. what essentially matters to whoever's looking at your applications is how well you did, never mind if you took a longer time than most.
repeating does sound scary, i know. the stigma of having no other choice, of falling behind so great, and your own disappointment for failing in spite of all your hard work. i know you'll say this is easier said than done, but try to think of it in a more positive light. you've had other dreams before... when you came to JC, did you give them up because the dream tied to JC is stronger? or because the perception still exists that JC is a better route for you? take this as an opportunity for you to explore an interest you've abandoned. or even if you repeat, hey at least you've got an edge over the others. you know now the urgency of consistency. take it as a break to rejuvenate yourself, and gear yourself up to perform even BETTER than you did before. don't give up. there's more waiting for you.
drop one A level subject? think first why do you want it so much. because of pride? or passion? i loved hcl even though i've never once passed it. i was so against the idea of dropping it at first, and even more indignant that the fact they want me to hold onto Biology was for the damn sake of occupational pragmatism. but in the end, i found that i'm more glad for it. i still crash hcl lessons when i can, because i really enjoy it. and now, i'm no longer killing my interest by stressing over performance, instead of simply appreciating it.
you've still a long way to go. hang in there, wait till the day you achieve your dreams.
